Revolution in World Missions: One Man’s Journey to Change a Generation
By K.P. Yohannan
We’ve heard it said to make Jesus’ last command our first priority, but how often do we honor Jesus’ famous words and His directive to go into the world and make disciples (Matthew 28:19-20)?
As a young man and follower of Christ, K.P. Yohannan felt compelled to live out the Great Commission and fully surrendered his life to God’s plans and purposes. He had no idea where God would lead him or what the journey would entail, but decades of obedience, perseverance, and tenacious faith have led to countless lives saved through his dedicated missionary work.
Reading Revolution in World Missions is like walking through the book of Acts being lived out in the 20th and 21stcentury. Experience the world through the eyes of a man who, by the power, grace, and willingness of God, has impacted the Kingdom by his resilient service, leadership, and missionary work. Yohannan’s passion for sharing the love of Jesus to all corners of the globe is contagious and it will drive you to be “all in” for Jesus as well.
While there is a lot of inspiration and wisdom to glean from this book, one thing that stood out to me was the “behind the scenes” take on world missions. Yohannan vulnerably expresses his concerns along with his vision for missionary work, but also peels back the curtain to expose the highs, lows, victories, and failures of ministering to the two-thirds world. I found this to be incredibly insightful as Yohannan makes a solid case that nationals contribute a more positive response to the gospel and an overall greater longevity than their Western evangelical counterparts.
Revolution in World Missions was a spiritual reboot for me – it refocused my priorities and recentered my desire for service and discipleship. There is a plethora of land available for planting seeds, watering, tending, growing, and harvesting. If we want to be the hands and feet of Jesus we must be willing to use our hands and feet to contribute our time, talent, and treasure to the Kingdom. The time is now, but will we go?
I recommend this book to anyone who is looking to live out the Great Commission but doesn’t know how or where to start. Likewise, this is a recommended read for those interested in mission work or how to serve and support global missionaries.
Gospel for Asia (GFA) cares so much about reaching the ends of the earth with the healing salve of the gospel that they want to inspire you to impact the Kingdom, too!
