I can’t sleep.

Too many thoughts, too many reflections, steering me further & further away from receiving the precious hours of shut-eye my body craves.

Minute by minute, hour by hour, my clouded mind keeps me awake. Like Times Square on NYE, there are too many distractions flashing brightly & rapidly vying for my attention.

I pray for stillness, rest, & calm. I plead, “Lord, let me fall asleep.” I want nothing more than to shut off my mind, silence the noise and allow my body replenishment via overdue sleep.

Sometimes the only way to see clearly in the dark is to turn towards the Light.

“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.”

Psalm 119:105 (NLT)

In the dark of night I seek the Light. I pray hard for the impossible because I know with God all things are possible. Gradually, I feel my heart rate steadying, my breath slowing down as well as my thoughts. The craziness that was distracting me from sleep and occupying my limited mental/emotional capacity is wearing out and drifting away.

I don’t know what keeps you up at night. I don’t know what your fears are, if you suffer from anxiety or if you have a void you’ve been waiting forever to fill. I may not know you personally, or perhaps I do, but I do not know the depths of your soul. What I do know is that you have a story.

Maybe you’re still in the early chapters of it or maybe you are approaching the climax. It’s possible your story is in the thick of bitter controversy, turmoil or despair. Your heart could be badly broken or heavily weighted with agony, sorrow or devastation and you don’t believe it can ever be repaired or beat again. There’s a chance you feel like you’re too far gone to ever find your way back home or start over fresh. Or, you could be lying awake at night believing “the end” is near and are numbing the pain with hopelessness or resentment.

Wherever you find yourself, can I be bold enough to ask you some things?

What are you afraid of?

Is there something keeping you in the dark when you should be fearlessly following the Light?

What is holding you back from living the life God specifically designed for you?

Whether you like it or not, your story has already been written but you still have a part to play in it.

If I’m being honest, that is what keeps me up at night.

I worry I’ll miss the signs guiding me through the path already paved. I fear I’ll unintentionally wander away, make a wrong turn or hit a detour.

But you know what? No matter how far we travel off course, God will find us and redirect us back to Him. No matter how hopeless we feel, no matter how impossible our prayers may seem, no matter how heavy the weight is we’ve been stubbornly carrying for longer than necessary…NO MATTER WHAT! God always has a way.

Find the Light. It will lead you to where you’re supposed to be in the exact moment God has perfectly planned for a very specific time. Things may not make sense right away, but at least when you are with Him you can see where you are heading.

In the dark of night, the Light is waiting to be turned on…and it is closer to you than you think.

“No one would think of lighting a lamp and then hiding it in the basement where no one would benefit. A lamp belongs on a lampstand, where all who enter may see its light. The eyes of your spirit allow revelation-light to enter into your being. When your heart is open the Light floods in. When your heart is hard and closed, the Light cannot penetrate and darkness takes its place.Open your heart and consider my words. Watch out that you do not mistake your opinions for revelation-light! If your spirit burns with Light, fully illuminated with no trace of darkness, you will be a shining lamp, reflecting rays of Truth by the way you live.”

Luke 11:33-36 (TPT)
